On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, Friends attended the screening of Circle of Silence, a powerful documentary that sheds light on an important aspect of the history of Timor-Leste and Australia. The film tells the story of the Balibo Five, a group of journalists who were murdered during the Indonesian invasion of East Timor.
The documentary was moving and captured the tragedy of the Balibo Five in a way that was both poignant and informative. Through this film, we hope Shirely Schakleton, the wife of one of the journalists who was killed, will finally find the closure she fought so hard to achieve in life.
Friends of Lospalos are grateful to have had the opportunity to watch this important film and to learn more about the history of our region. We encourage everyone to see it and to continue to educate themselves about the struggles and triumphs of our community.
